Galloping bravely,
Through the misty war field,
Brave men
Sit astride them.
Nature’s power,
Dragging them down.
Try as they might,
They can’t ride them out.
Legs thrashing,
Going under,
Disappearing,
Together,
Man and horse.
They had survived
The war so far
But they were no match,
For the mighty mud.
